Alison Lamb is a registered patent attorney who advises clients on patent portfolio strategy. Prior to joining Parker Poe, she spent four years at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where she was a patent examiner.

While at the USPTO, Alison analyzed applications to determine whether patents could be granted, conducted prior art searches, drafted claim amendments, and wrote responses for cases appealed to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). She has also served as a judicial law clerk at the PTAB.

Alison's counsel to clients is strengthened by her business and scientific training. She earned an MBA with a concentration in entrepreneurship and innovation from Clemson University, where she developed a business plan for a biomedical technology invention as part of a national startup competition. She also interviewed customers, researched manufacturing techniques, completed marketing assessments, and prepared financial reports for a possible startup to sell the medical device, and she worked with venture capitalists to determine funding needs for the business.

In addition, she has experience as a medical device student engineer and a research assistant in a hip and knee implant retrieval lab as part of her undergraduate education at Clemson, where she also earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering.

Alison earned her JD from Charleston School of Law, where she was managing editor of the Charleston Law Review and president of the Public Speaking Society. She also took part in the Medical University of South Carolina Presidential Scholars Program, which gives MUSC and Charleston Law students the chance to explore the complex social, political, and human issues related to health care.
