Raleigh partner Catharine Arrowood discussed the history of the North Carolina Supreme Court in North Carolina Supreme Court at 200, a documentary that aired on UNC-TV.

The documentary reflects on the history of the court, which held its first session in 1819. During its first 200 years, 101 justices have served on the court, and it has produced more than 370 volumes of case law impacting every person, business and municipality in North Carolina.

“When I look at our Supreme Court in North Carolina today, I really feel that it is a culmination of these tiny step-by-step changes that were made across the state in our trial court bench, and we’ve moved on up. We’ve really made a huge amount of progress in having our courts look like, and represent everybody in North Carolina. No matter what walk of life they come from, economic background, race, color, religion, we really do have an extraordinary diverse bench. We can still be better, but I am very proud of where we are today,” says Arrowood.
